Which edition applies, before anyone signs
Seven checks for firms that write fee proposals to authorities. Monday morning, without software. The software then does the same, faster.

Write down competence. Then search.
City, canton or federal. A municipal width does not sit in an ASTRA guideline, even if search finds it.
Typical mistake: The first file that contains the search term counts as the answer.

Open the title page. Not the file name.
Edition, date, “replaces”, “draft”. Valid is what sits in the document.
Typical mistake: Normalie103_1998_neu.pdf. New is in the name. 1998 is in the title.

Draft, copy, compilation: set aside.
Watermark, “for consultation”, file name Copy. They stay in the folder. They do not go into the proposal.
Typical mistake: The version with the latest modified date in the Finder.

Follow the cross-reference. The figure often sits one file on.
The city standard points to the technical norm. The width may sit in the second file, or only in the drawing there.
Typical mistake: Quote from the standard, figure from memory.

If the passage is a figure: say so.
Dimension lines often sit only on the plan. Text search does not find them. Inventing the figure is the expensive path.
Typical mistake: “Not in the PDF, so 3.50 like the last project.”

Every figure in the proposal carries document, edition, page.
A parenthesis after the width. Whoever signs finds the passage in seconds.
Typical mistake: “according to applicable norms”. That is not a passage.

No passage: leave the figure out.
Two words are enough: not found. The sentence goes into the draft, not the invented width.
Typical mistake: A plausible figure, “we will settle this in the preferred option”. The jury reads the figure.

Checks 2 and 3 retire four files. One remains. If the width only sits in the drawing: check 5, do not guess.
